The late great Tom Petty summed it up perfectly in his song The Waiting: “Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah... the wai-ai-ting is the hardest part!”
Well, people who’ve been patiently waiting for us to complete our extended-but-essential renovation of the historic Eldorado Pool will reap the benefits by late summer 2023. Work has progressed steadily and we’re on track to open the pool late this summer!
The Eldorado Pool’s Long History
The Eldorado Pool opened in 1906 and “the Jewel of Boulder County,” as it was known, was visited by the likes of Dwight and Mamie Eisenhower and heavyweight boxing champion Jack Dempsey. It was touted as the largest swimming pool in the U.S. at the time. And while it may not hold that title anymore, few pools can match the beautiful scenery surrounding ours!
The founders of Eldorado Artesian Springs, Inc. acquired the resort and the iconic pool in 1983, so its reopening will coincide with the 40th anniversary of that momentous transaction. And a trip to the pool in 2023 will be an even easier and more enjoyable experience than ever.
For starters, roadway improvements will simplify access to the resort. People who’ve visited in the past will also notice beautiful upgrades to the bathrooms and other amenities. And, of course, we’ve enhanced the pool itself, with the goal of it being a source of incredible memories for another 114 years.

It’s been a long journey to get to where we are today and see the light at the end of the tunnel. But the excitement is building here as we look ahead to late summer, 2023.
We’re grateful to everyone involved in bringing our vision of the revitalized Eldorado Pool and facilities to life. We also appreciate the patience and support of the community and everyone who’s excited to experience more unforgettable days here.
As stewards of this amazing piece of American history and Colorado culture, we’ve approached its renovation with tremendous respect and care, and we think you’ll appreciate what we’ve done as you enjoy the pool in summer 2023 and beyond.
