You may have read on our website that Eldorado Natural Spring Water is "award winning." What does this mean? Are there actually award ceremonies for water? Crazy enough, the answer is yes! Journey with us to the Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting for an up-close look at the competition that put us on the map.
Berkeley Springs, West Virginia is a tiny, hidden gem. Known mostly for being the first-ever American spa town, they quickly gained notoriety for their delicious spring water. In an attempt to increase tourism in 1991, the Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting was founded. Since the competition’s inception, many have entered in hopes of being crowned the best tasting water in the world but very few have succeeded.
Before attending or viewing the tasting, here are a few things you might want to keep in mind:

The tasting takes place every year during the last weekend of February.
- There are 4 categories of water: Municipal, Bottled Non-Carbonated, Bottled Carbonated, and Purified Bottle. (Check out this blog post about different types of water.)
- The waters are sorted and tasted amongst the rest of that category by a panel of 10 experienced judges.
- If your water doesn’t place during the awards ceremony, don’t worry! There is a final category for People’s Choice Packaging.
Eldorado Natural Spring Water has placed a total of 5 years, and has even been awarded Best Tasting Water in North America and 3rd Best Tasting Water in the World in years past. This year, Eldorado Springs won the coveted Gold Medal for Best Municipal Water in the U.S. and Second Best in the World!
