In today’s highly connected world, you can get online at any time of the day or night and order products produced anywhere in the world. And typically, you can have those products delivered to your home or business within a few days. In some instances, you can get them the same day! What could be better?
Well, increasingly, people are realizing that the fact that you can get products from just about anywhere on the planet doesn’t mean you should. Instead, there are many reasons to shop and buy locally.
Why You Should Consider Local Merchants
As a local company, it may sound a little self-serving of us to recommend that you shop locally. But even if you never buy a single Eldorado Natural Spring Water product, we hope you consider purchasing from local businesses for these six reasons:
- Buying from local companies stimulates the local economy. Let’s say you buy a bouquet from a flower shop in your community. It would be understandable to think that you’re just giving a little boost to that company. But you’re doing much more than that. Locally owned businesses often purchase supplies and services from other local businesses. So when you walk through the main street or business district in your town and see several thriving companies—the flower shop, a packaging supply company, a local delivery service, a graphic design firm, etc.—it’s possible that your choice has benefitted all of them and others.
- Local businesses support local families and organizations in many ways. Mike is a high school senior. He works in the greenhouse at the flower shop after school to save money for college. Sara loves basketball, and an electrical contracting company in her city sponsors her team so they can have the uniforms and equipment they need. A local landscaper provides discounted services to the organization responsible for upkeep at a veteran’s memorial. And a list like this could go on and on. Local businesses do more good for their communities than most people know.
- Local companies have less of an impact on the environment. When you buy from a company in your area, the items you purchase often are produced or sourced nearby, rather than on the other side of the country (or beyond). Eldorado Natural Spring Water is a great example. Wherever you are in Colorado, the water you buy has traveled just a few hours from the source.
- In buying locally, you shape your community. When you purchase from local providers, that action affects things like city planning and government policies in a very real way. When you order from a provider outside your region or state, your purchase is essentially nonexistent to the government and civic leaders who are trying to make everyone’s life better.
- Local businesses often provide better customer service. If you know the person needing help with your product or service lives nearby, you tend to try to resolve their issue as quickly and completely as possible. That’s just being neighborly!
- When you buy locally, you benefit from the company’s knowledge of the area. Using Eldorado Natural Spring Water as an example again, you get much better information on how much water you need for your home or business from someone familiar with Colorado’s arid climate. That’s because they experience it every day—as compared to another company’s rep in Seattle.
Support Local Businesses, and You Support Your Interests, Too!
Buying locally is a true win-win. The businesses benefit, of course, but so do you and your community. And, of course, we’re very fortunate to have such great companies here in Colorado, so you never have to compromise on quality. Especially not when you quench your thirst with the best-tasting, most refreshing natural spring water in the world!
